SOURCELY API PREVIEW

Use cases

What you can build by connecting academic source discovery to your research and writing workflows.

Research discovery

Let users submit a research question or paragraph, then display relevant papers with titles, authors, publication years and source links. Use the document track's source_ids to resolve ordered entries from the sources map.

Start with Create a search, then Get search results using the returned job_id.

Citation tools

Request the citation formats your application needs through citation_formats. The API supports APA 7, MLA 9, IEEE, Harvard and BibTeX. Display the available formatted citations beside each source, or let users copy them into their writing workflow.

See citation fields and the format enum.

Claim-level source suggestions

Use granularity: ["claim"] or ["document", "claim"] to return identified claims with source suggestions. Each claim includes a searched flag and source IDs; max_claims limits how many are searched.

These are source suggestions, not independently verified fact-check verdicts. Review the original sources before treating them as support for a claim.

Source analysis

Use enrichment to show relevance assessments and supporting evidence next to search results. high enrichment reads each source in full before analyzing it, and deep search adds a shortlist and a second ranking. See Full text and How search works.

Integration flow

Your server creates a search with its API key, keeps the search ID, retrieves the result with the same account's key, and maps sources into your UI. Handle empty results, failures and expiration using the error guide and search lifecycle. Each search is paid from your account's prepaid credits; see Credits and pricing. Automatic worker recovery is still planned.
